  1. What inspired you to begin working in obstetrics and gynecology?

I loved the diversity of the specialty. No day is ever the same! It’s great being able to offer a wide range of both medical and surgical therapies.

  1. Why are you passionate about working in this area of health care?

It is a privilege to care for women through several decades of their lives. Caring for patients during pregnancy and childbirth is very rewarding and delivering babies is a blast! I really enjoy being able to improve the quality of life for many of my patients with minimally invasive surgical techniques.

  1. How is the relationship with your patients important to you?

My staff and I really enjoy building long-term relationships with our patients. It’s great getting to know spouses and frequently the extended family.

  1. What are a few of your favorite things to do around the Austin area?

Food and fitness! Austin is poised to be the next major food hub with many great restaurants. I love trying new places. To balance out the calories, we are fortunate to live in a city where there is an abundance of fitness opportunities. Whether it’s Crossfit, “the Trail,” Austin Fittest or golf, I enjoy taking advantage of outdoor opportunities.

  1. Tell us what patients can expect during their first visit with you.

My patients can expect a thorough review of their medical history and ample opportunity to ask questions. The initial consultation is done before changing for the exam.

  1. What is your favorite part about being a physician?

The opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients. I may help a patient with fertility issues at one stage of her life and then years later discuss hormone replacement at the time of menopause. Also, the look on a new father’s face as he holds his child for the first time is pretty amazing!

  1. Share with us some of your favorite hobbies!

For the past few years, my wife and I have enjoyed traveling the country watching our son play college football. I enjoy spending time with my family, refereeing junior high and high school sports and I am a really good cook!
