What drew you to The OB/GYN Group of Austin?
I chose this group because they had an outstanding reputation and were one of the oldest OB/GYN practices in Austin. I actually called the nurses in the L&D before I started working here and asked their opinions. They only had great things to say. I joined because they were a great group of doctors who practice the highest degree of ethics. Of course, we loved Austin and wanted to raise our family here.
What would you like every patient to know?
I would like every patient to know that they are going to be treated as an individual. I will listen to their concerns and make sure they get all of their questions answered. I want my patients to feel they’ve received a complete visit. I want them to feel comfortable and satisfied by the time they leave.
What differentiates your approach to practicing obstetrics and gynecology from other providers?
My patients are typically going to see me for every one of their obstetrics or gynecology visits. I rarely use physician extenders and a lot of patients like that. Also, I enjoy doing high risk and complicated obstetrics.
What is your favorite part of your workday?
My favorite part of my workday is being able to talk to patients about their family and their kids and catching up on what’s going on in their lives. Also, I really like interacting with patients and their spouses. A lot of obstetric patients bring their spouses in. It’s really enjoyable getting to know the couple together.
What daily healthy habits do you practice?
I do CrossFit several days a week and I really enjoy working out in general. I’m a big advocate of exercise and pregnancy. Also, I’m a high school football referee and enjoy refereeing junior high and high school football in the Austin area.
What most excites you about the future of women’s health care?
There have been major advances in minimally invasive surgeries to treat abnormal bleeding, pain and urinary incontinence. Patients can have surgery with minimal risk and much quicker recovery. I also enjoy doing robotic surgery which has continued to improve our ability to provide minimally invasive procedures.
