Congratulations on your expected arrival!  We know the birth of a baby is also the birth of a family. Sharing the adventure of childbirth can be both exciting and mystifying and the more knowledge you have the less mystery there will be!  Please allow us to help you learn about this process.


Basics Childbirth ClassThis a one day, 6 hour class on a Saturday. This class will include anatomy/physiology. Stages of labor, when to call your Doctor. Variations of labor and medical support. Cesarean birth and more. An overview and practice of breathing and relaxation techniques. Positions to enhance labor will be demonstrated.  Postpartum care. Tour of labor and delivery at Seton Medical Center.  This class is held on a Saturday from 800am-130pm, with a break for lunch. Cost is $95.00

Best time to take the Childbirth Class

The recommendation for when to take the class is to have the class COMPLETED
about a month before your due date.  However, classes fill up quickly, so it’s suggested to sign up at least 3 months before your due date!

Baby Care Basics Class:  This 3 hour class is a fun and interactive way to learn the skills you need for those first weeks with your new baby! This class is recommended for patients and their partners during their third trimester of pregnancy.

  • Calming Techniques
  • Diapering
  • Car/Home/Sleep Safety
  • Feeding
  • Bathing
  • Your Baby’s Pediatrician

Classes will be held once monthly in the lobby of the office. Class fee is $65.00 per couple, payable online with any major credit card.  You can take both the Childbirth 101 and the Babycare Basics in one day if you choose.  It does make for a long day!

Breastfeeding Class

This class is perfect for new moms who plan to breastfeed their little one. Each class runs approximately two hours and is hosted by Rachel Deckler, a certified lactation consultant. I encourage you to bring your spouse along! At the class you’ll learn:

What to expect in the first days
Comfortable breastfeeding positions
How to achieve a good “latch”
Is my baby getting enough?
Troubleshooting issues such as nipple soreness
Returning to work while breastfeeding
And much more!
The cost for the breastfeeding class is $60 and you are welcome to bring the hubby along.
